What a Tennessee professional engineer stamp is for

A Tennessee professional engineer stamp identifies the registered engineer responsible for engineering documents. The state’s seal-and-signature guidance requires an active Tennessee registration for submissions to building departments and local planning or engineering offices. A registration in another state does not replace that requirement. The stamp supplies your personalized seal impression; your professional responsibility and signature are separate.

Rule 0120-02-.08 identifies the documents to seal, including original sheets of working drawings or plans and the specified cover or index pages for specifications, calculations and reports. Engineers using the digital-index provision must identify the project and the engineers responsible for each portion. A single seal should not imply responsibility for another registrant’s unidentified work.

The Tennessee engineer seal design

The board’s illustration places your name across the upper outer band and State of Tennessee below. Registered Engineer appears inside, with the state’s agriculture and commerce device and your number following No. The professional title printed in this design is Registered Engineer. The reviewed engineer provision does not state a diameter.

Our preview follows the order of your identifying text. It does not reproduce the central pictorial device or measure the finished seal. The caption makes that distinction visible while you check your name and number. The final seal uses the Tennessee board format.

The Trodat 46050 self-inking mount

This Tennessee professional engineer stamp uses the round Trodat 46050. Its internal ink pad can be refilled or replaced. The open base helps position the impression, while nonslip feet help steady the housing. The product photo shows a black housing; your ink selection changes the impression color.

The listed water-based ink does not dry on glossy paper or Mylar. Choose a suitable document surface instead of expecting a different ink color to solve that limitation. The housing photograph shows the product, not your finished personalized impression.

Personalizing your Tennessee PE stamp

Set Qty, then enter Registrant Name and License Number in that order. Review both in the preview and choose Ink Color. The optional digital file provides JPG and PDF artwork. The extra refill ink, extra pad and pad-and-ink combination are independent choices, so selecting the combination and a separate supply adds both to your order.

Use Special Instructions for information relevant to the selected product. There is no signature or signing-date engraving field: Tennessee specifically separates those from the stamp itself. Check your details, extras, quantity and total before continuing.

Electronic sealing and responsibility in Tennessee

A Tennessee professional engineer seal may be produced as a rubber stamp, embossing, transparent self-adhesive seal or electronic representation under the rule. The ordinary signature and signing date extend across the face and beyond the seal. An electronically generated signature and date may instead be adjacent to it. Digital signing requires authentication that is unique, verifiable, solely controlled and invalidated when the document changes.

The optional JPG/PDF is seal artwork, not a digital-signature certificate or an automatic approval. Responsible charge involves supervision, knowledge, review and authority over preparation, with specific provisions for trusted contributions and successor work. A Tennessee PE seal does not transfer that responsibility to the stamp seller. Review the complete rule for your document and circumstances.

Tennessee professional engineer stamp questions

Why does the Tennessee seal say Registered Engineer?
That is the professional title in the board’s engineer illustration at 0120-02-.08(1)(a). Your name goes above it, and State of Tennessee appears along the bottom.
Does the PE stamp Tennessee engineers order include their signature?
No. The rule expressly excludes the registrant’s signature and signing date from the stamp or seal itself. Apply those to your documents as the sealing rule requires.
Does Tennessee prescribe a diameter for this engineer seal?
The reviewed engineer seal rule supplies an illustration without a diameter. The product photograph and typographic preview should not be treated as scale drawings.
Can I use the digital Tennessee engineer seal file by itself?
It supplies the seal artwork only. Required signatures, dates, authentication and responsibility remain with the engineer. Follow 0120-02-.08(8) when signing electronic documents.
Can a registration in another state replace Tennessee registration?
No. The board’s current FAQ says that only design professionals with active Tennessee registration may submit plans and specifications for review to Tennessee building departments and local planning or engineering offices.
