What a Florida professional engineer stamp is for
A Florida professional engineer stamp identifies the licensed engineer responsible for final engineering work. Signing, dating and sealing a document connects that engineer to its contents. The Florida Board of Professional Engineers requires this for final plans, prints, specifications, reports and other engineering documents filed for public record or supplied to an owner or the owner’s representative.
Use your Florida PE stamp only for work within your competence and responsible charge. The board’s signing and sealing guidance explains that nonfinal documents need a clear limitation on their use, such as a preliminary or review-only designation. The stamp supplies the personalized seal; responsibility for the work remains with the engineer.
The Florida engineer seal format
Rule 61G15-23.002 specifies a round Florida professional engineer seal at least 1⅞ inches across. The standard illustration places the engineer’s name above the license information and star, with State of Florida inside and Professional Engineer around the lower edge. Your license number follows No. The preview shows those elements as you enter your details; the finished layout follows the board’s format.
The board permits abbreviated given names or initials with the surname it has on record. That surname must also appear in the signature. This page is for the standard license format. A temporary-license seal needs additional wording and an expiration date, while the combined engineer/surveyor design is a different product requirement.
The Trodat 46050 self-inking mount
This Florida professional engineer stamp uses one Trodat 46050 round housing. Its built-in pad inks the rubber die between impressions, and the open base helps you position the stamp on the document. The pad can be replaced or refilled. The product photograph shows the housing, with the personalized stamp face out of view.
Choose from the nine listed ink options. Optional supplies are a matching replacement pad, a 1 oz refill bottle and a pad-and-ink combination. The ink is water based; it does not dry on glossy paper or Mylar. Select a document surface suitable for the ink rather than assuming a stamp for ordinary paper will work on every material.
A PE stamp Florida engineers can personalize
Enter your licensed name and license number, then choose the ink option for your Florida professional engineer stamp. Each accessory checkbox is independent, so you can add a digital file, refill bottle, pad or combination according to what you need. Add special instructions if necessary, choose the quantity and review the running total before continuing.
Check the spelling and number against your license before ordering. Watch the preview update as you type. The photo shows the stamp housing; the preview is a guide to your entered details, with a caption explaining that the final layout follows the Florida board format.
Using the stamp on physical documents
When physically signing and sealing, use an original handwritten signature on each page that requires it. Place the seal so it partly overlaps the signature while leaving the signature legible, and put the date immediately next to the signature. A copied or scanned signature image does not replace the required handwritten signature under Rule 61G15-23.003.
The board describes separate placement rules for plans, specifications, calculations and reports. Its guidance links to those requirements so you can check the document type you are preparing. A scanned copy of physically signed and sealed work is not an original signed and sealed document.
Optional digital seal files for Florida
The digital add-on supplies both JPG and PDF versions of your Florida PE seal, emailed after creation. These files are images of the seal. They do not include a certification-authority credential or create a verified digital signature by themselves.
Florida’s digital-signature method in Rule 61G15-23.004 requires identity authentication by a certification authority and a signature that can be verified and is linked to the document. The signing date and prescribed notice also belong on the document. Rule 23.005 describes a separate electronic method using an authentication code and a signed signature report. Follow the appropriate method for the submitted document and receiving authority.
Florida engineer stamp questions
- What size must a Florida professional engineer stamp be?
- The board requires a minimum diameter of 1⅞ inches for wet, embossed and digitally created seals. A digital image meets that requirement at native, unreduced document size. Rule 61G15-23.002 does not specify a maximum diameter.
- Can I use initials on my Florida seal?
- Yes. Rule 23.002(2)(d) permits an abbreviated given name or initials if the surname listed with the board appears on both the seal and the signature. Enter the licensed name in the form with that requirement in mind.
- Does the digital add-on sign a Florida engineering document?
- No. It provides JPG and PDF seal artwork. The digital-signing procedure separately requires certification-authority authentication, a verifiable document-linked signature, the date and the board’s prescribed notice.
- Can this page make a temporary Florida engineer seal?
- This page collects details for the standard engineer format. Temporary licenses require additional wording and an expiration date under Rule 23.002(2)(b), so the standard product here does not cover that separate format.
- Does Florida require black ink for an engineer seal?
- The read seal-design and physical-signing provisions require a permanent representation without prescribing a particular ink color. This product offers the listed ink options; its water-based ink is not suitable for glossy paper or Mylar.
